Modern dentistry meets timeless dental care as we support the health and beauty of your smile

General dentistry indicates a range of comprehensive preventive, diagnostic, and restorative dental services. While general dentistry is all of these things, our approach to dental treatments at Benton Family Dentistry in Hot Springs, Arkansas, is anything but “run of the mill.”

Led by our dentist, Dr. Kyle Benton, our team takes great care in consistently providing the most comfortable, pleasant, stress-free, gentle, and convenient experience possible at our inviting practice. We are supported in this mission by the considerable investments that Dr. B has made in dental technologies and appropriate training on those technologies and modern treatment techniques. Technology helps precision diagnoses of conditions before they wreak havoc on your smile and overall health. Furthermore, the use of non-invasive diagnostics that render clear and detailed images of oral structures supports precision treatment. Treating affected tissues resolves problems painlessly, minimizes undesirable side effects, promotes healing, and preserves natural soft and hard tissue.

Since dental anxiety is often rooted in fears about potential discomfort, we can minimize or eliminate those sources of apprehension with our thoughtful techniques and high-tech investments. It is critical to address dental anxiety swiftly; patients with “dentophobia” tend only to visit the dentist when in unrelenting pain. When such pain presents itself, decay or other damage may be so profound that a tooth cannot be saved. Furthermore, the wait-and-see approach can threaten your overall health because dental abscesses can cause dangerous systemic infections. Our friendly team, welcoming environment, and gentle dental care are non-threatening and encourage return visits to our practice for:

  • Dental exams, scheduled at least once every six months (more frequently for those with active disease or risk factors such as smoking)
  • Regular oral cancer screenings
  • Professional dental cleanings, scheduled during the same visit as your exam (typically, at 6-month intervals)
  • Professional preventive services may be discussed or administered during your hygiene appointment; for instance, dental sealants to protect decay-prone back teeth or mouthguards to prevent oral and jaw injuries during sports.

Depending on what we find during your exam, we may recommend modifications to oral hygiene techniques at home or unique oral care products. Seemingly simple interventions can make a big difference; for example, patients may find it easier to clean between hard-to-reach spaces (such as under dental bridges) with interdental brushes or picks instead of floss threaders. Likewise, we may find that patients are not sufficiently cleaning other areas of the mouth that tend to harbor harmful bacteria, such as the tongue and the roof of the mouth. Still, other members of our extended dental family may brush or floss too aggressively, which also threatens the health of the gums and teeth.

We’re happy to demonstrate healthy techniques that you can easily incorporate into your routine and that can promptly resolve early-stage gum inflammation or enamel erosion. For patients with more extensive damage, due to the likes of dental decay or periodontal disease, we may recommend procedures such as a “deep clean” (scaling and root planing) to promote healthy reattachment of the gums, and fillings or other dental restorations to repair damaged areas of the tooth.

Many oral conditions are easily prevented by visiting our dental team as directed by Dr. B. In doing so, you also avoid the toothaches and other undesirable symptoms associated with common oral problems. Preventive care is generally faster, more affordable, and less intensive than restorative treatments to resolve existing issues.
